SCHOOL-BASED CONFLICT RESOLUTION

HANDLING EXISTING CONFLICT
This program was designed to help school officials effectively manage school-based conflicts.  While the administrative staff typically manages conflict independently, occasionally a situation arises which can be more effectively resolved through an outside resource.   Some of the school-based issues which might warrant Professional Mediator include:

♦ Tension between classroom teachers and specialists (such as RTI staff) over the requirements and implementation of new programming, which renders the new programming less effective and deteriorates working relationships

♦ Gender or Racial issues between teachers, students, parents, or any combination of these groups

♦ Personality conflicts between teachers at specific grade levels which renders the school a stressful and uncomfortable environment to anyone who is exposed

♦ Conflict created by a leadership style that produces results counter to expectation (teacher/student, principal/teacher,  principal/student body, coach/students)
